In July CMHC announced that they were making some large changes that are in effect October 15th, 2008 regarding a couple of their most popular programs. I read an article this week that explained that something like 60% of Canadians polled did not understand what the changes to the market were and what possible effect they will have. Say good-bye to the 40 year Amortization! So what does this mean? Well, it seems as that the days of 100% financing and 40 year amortizations are numbered. Well it will be interesting to see if this causes an increase in housing sales and refinances as some pIn what the Canadian Government is calling a guard against the US style housing bubble, a number of changes are going to take place in the near future in the Canadian Mortgage market. The changes are set to take place October 15th, 2008. FHA is the Federal Housing Administration. As part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), one of the chief purposes of the FHA is to help people obtain financing for their homes....

ABN AMRO had a mortgage division which in the US was owned by LaSalle Bank Corp. who’s assets were then bought by Bank of America in October of 2007. It’s unclear if the mortgage division (called ABN-AMRO Mortgage Group, Inc. ... When you're on the look out for a new home, you need cash. A lot of it. Most homes today have down payments that are more than what the buyer can afford right then and there. The solution for this? A mortgage....
