Northern Rock is withdrawing from the sub- mortgage business, bringing to an end a partnership with US investment bank Lehman Brothers. The mortgage loan itself is made by a bank, a savings and loan association, a mortgage company, a credit union, or any other lender. For it to become an FHA mortgage loan, the lender would have to be approved by the Federal Housing Administration....

Especially if you can find an investment that the long term payoff matches or exceeds what you ... In most cases, banks usually close mortgage loans more quickly than a mortgage broker does. This is probably because a mortgage broker deals with two types of persons - the lender and the client. Resolving mortgage issues between these two is a time-consuming job....

Baltimore Sun - Perez, Maryland's secretary of labor, licensing and regulation, told the crowd yesterday that the O'Malley administration "will have a robust legislative agenda to ensure homeownership preservation," including "meaningful oversight" for mortgage ... Another thing is that mortgage brokers can be more resourceful than banks. Because mortgage brokers do not work for only one company, they have more access to mortgages and loans. Greater suitability and better mortgage options are what mortgage brokers bring to their customers....
